The following photographs and videos demonstrate the horrible and traumatizing events that civilians of Hiroshima and Nagasaki faced.

The above picture is Nagasaki, Japan before the United States dropped the atomic bomb. The picture below the first is the city after the bomb was dropped. You can see how the entire city was completely destroyed and almost flattened.

This is a woman who was burned from the bombing of Hiroshima. The pattern of her clothing was imprinted onto her skin from the powerful heat waves.

"Within a certain distance from the site of explosion, the heat was so intense that practically everything was vaporized... in Hiroshima, all that was left of some humans, sitting on stone beaches near the center of explosion, was their outlines."

"Beneath the center of the explosion, temperatures were hot enough to melt concrete and steel. Within seconds, 75,000 people had been killed or fatally injured with 65% of the casualties nine years of age and younger."

This is the eyeball of an A-bomb victim who got an atomic bomb cataract, resulting in opacity near the center of the eyeball.

This is Chugoku Coal Distribution Control Co., which is 700 feet from ground zero at Hiroshima. Despite its great distance, it was still destroyed.

In order to avoid a full ground invasion of Japan and massive loss of U.S. lives, President Truman ordered the dropping of two atomic bombs, killing over 200,000 Japanese people and hastening Japan’s surrender.

Under President Truman's directive, the U.S. Air Force dropped an atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima causing mass destruction and the loss of many lives.

After the United States dropped the second atomic bomb on Nagasaki Japan, Japan surrenders.
